Sophy is the world's most reluctant wedding planner. She's forever telling couples 'it's only one day' and trying to rein them in. Despite this she's very good at her job, always staying calm in a crisis. But she's really put to the test when Matt, an old friend she has a crush on, asks her to arrange his reception. Sophy is so busy trying to stop him making what she believes is the biggest mistake of his life, she doesn't realize she's falling for somebody else. Stan, a local builder, is a single father with a delightfully engaging daughter and a wolf of a dog. Big-hearted, strong and reliable, he's everything Matt isn't.
